World Series Final Game Draws Over 50 Million Viewers In the United States, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The thrilling extended matchup that saw the Dodgers beat the Blue Jays by one run attracted a total 51 million spectators across the US, Canadian, and Japan territories. Major League Baseball reported this represents the most-watched World Series Game 7 since the 1991 showdown featuring the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Ratings Breakdown

The Saturday memorable contest averaged 27.33 million audience members on Fox Sports networks, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the previous week.

It also stands as the most-watched Fall Classic game since the 2017 Game 7 involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This marks a sixteen percent increase compared to the last Game 7 featuring the Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19M.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game placed fourth, Game 4 was 7th, Game 5 was 8th, and the third game landed in thirteenth place.

International Audience Figures

In Canada, the climactic game drew 11.6 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports. This made it the most-watched English-language broadcast in the country since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game started at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it attracted 12 million. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – where World Series Most Valuable Player Yamamoto allowed a single run in six innings – recorded over 13 million spectators, making it the highest-rated World Series matchup on a single network in the country.

Overall Averages and Trends

The full seven-game World Series drew over 15.7 million audience members on Fox, a two percent rise from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This represents the first time since 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has seen audience growth for two consecutive seasons.

Including the Game 1 telecast on the Univision network, the total American average reached 16.1 million. The total Fall Classic average in the Japanese market was 9.7M and 8.1 million in Canada.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels averaged over 8 million viewers, an eight percent increase compared to last year and the network’s strongest playoff performance after the 2017 season.

MLB reported that the Fall Classic was televised in over 200 nations and regions by forty-four media partners in sixteen various languages.
