Vinted Members Express Displeasure About Size Changes

Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.

This online marketplace has updated its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.

Social Media Reaction

Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.

The company said the new system was more in line with similar services.

The platform has recommended to review their products and manually change the size where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.

Sizing System Modifications

Earlier, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The new system has a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

Member Accounts

A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.

Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she said.

Necessary Adjustments

Another shopper, located in England, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she explained.

Service Background

The app has more than 100 million members, with 18 million British users.

It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
