Norris Edges Out Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at each of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the championship lead from Piastri by just one point after his victory in Mexico City a fortnight back, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before the sprint shootout scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the points battle, trailing 36 points behind Norris, finished in 17th position as his Red Bull team followed a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, if briefly, when he rotated at Turn Four soon after starting.
Tsunoda spun out over the track edges before spinning across the gravel trap, and was fortunate to escape with just a minor contact of the fence.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the conclusion of the practice, rotating twice through the quick descending Mergulho turn leading to the last turn on to the start-finish straight.
The seven-time champion wrapped up in 19th, one place behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber third fastest, 0.619secs slower than Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
