It's tough for the Australian squad to break new ground.

This is the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the peak baggers, are all that remain for a side that has won it all.

The fact it required up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a tribute to the bowlers that have represented Australia over five decades.

It's difficult for their batsmen to possess a record if never given the chance.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the title decider and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Some will argue the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this ton was much more difficult to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this performance followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in the nets, it was a disappointing period because it appeared I've had no rhythm completely," commented Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts take over and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's fighting spirit has always been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in taking over from iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's spark.

A single was taken off the bowler's initial ball and from there the right-hander was on her way.

"A chance to take the field and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun that way, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

When she was removed her side required another 66 at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the confidence to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if we do, we are confident we can do it."

That comment will be the last competing nations at this World Cup need to hear.

During the last week a sense they will triumph from any situation has become more firm - this victory succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

It was at that stage they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she wished she had played despite the injury.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those fitness problems have delayed plans to retire, this championship is anticipated as her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as captain.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
