AC Shadows Introduces Unexpected AoT Event for Holiday Season
In a surprising collaboration that defies usual predictions, the game developer has announced an digital collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.
Strange Questline Uncovered
According to the authorized release, "A strange encounter pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where hints of prohibited rituals and fearsome metamorphoses echo through the shadows." The plot presents a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a secret cult.
The questline focuses on "peculiar experiments and a monstrous adversary" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Locations and Changes
The teaser features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer concludes with a striking scene showing a character, likely the hostage, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Items and Additional Content
Players who accomplish the quest will obtain an unique katana together with several objects secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Exclusive arms
- Survey Corps vehicle
Third Free Story Content
This patch also brings the game's third no-cost story addition, titled "The Mystery." This humorous quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature skills: Naoe debuts a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also features a new environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This marks hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime franchises. The series earlier showcased a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla informally included a quest that obviously referenced the popular series One-Punch Man.
